As the discussions around DNA analysis of cotton, GMO cotton and the various varieties and organic cotton continue to populate various news reports and social media posts, ICA Bremen and Impetus Bioscience have developed this webinar to present this contemporary topic to industry.

Keynote speaker, Dr. Lothar Kruse of Impetus Bioscience stated “This live webinar in association with ICA Bremen will cover a number of various topics around analysing genetically modified cotton fibres and cotton products. You will learn the analytical steps necessary to detect, identify and quantify genetic modifications and you will be provided with useful information such as global cultivation area, the different gm cotton events, analytical limitations and future developments.

As a plant fibre, cotton is extremely important in the textile industry with more than 70% of the globally produced cotton already being genetically modified. In countries like the USA, India, Pakistan and China the proportion of GMO cotton exceeds 95%.
