Nine international delegates successfully completed our ‘Cotton Classing & Testing’ training programme.
The eight day programme took place in Bremen, Germany from 22 – 31 July and was delivered by industry experts from ICA Bremen and the Bremen Fibre Institute (FIBRE). The training concentrated purely on quality issues in raw cotton.
Following the training, ICA Bremen course deliverer, Karsten Froese, said: “This year, we had an interesting and challenging group of participants from across the supply chain and the world. This included representatives of regulation authorities from Africa, merchants and textile producers from Bangladesh and retail suppliers from Germany – who all interacted and shared their experience and knowledge. I believe this contributed to the success of this year’s course. For the first time, we also featured a short introduction to spinning, weaving, knitting and tailoring with the aim of highlighting the influence of cotton quality on processing. There was great interest and requests for more details so these sessions will be expanded in the future.”
Mason Karimi (Saba Tejarat Atlas) was one of the delegates who benefited from the training: “I learned a lot and really enjoyed the training. Mostly, I loved the enthusiasm of these guys in sharing their knowledge and experiences with us”.
Another delegate, Abdul Haq (Mahmood Group) said: “I really liked the training and learned a lot from the manual classification of cotton. I am convinced that any expert in HVI and/or Premier Art2 testing lacking manual expertise is seriously lagging behind in this science, or art for that matter...”
The training incorporated a wide range of modules – from the classification of cotton from various growths to practical HVI training on the latest Uster 1000 and Premier ART2 machines. It also included a trip to a local warehouse sponsored by ESF (Ellmers Shipping and Forwarding GmbH), a welcome meal sponsored by PREMIER and a farewell meal sponsored by Uster Technologies AG.
The next ‘Cotton Classing & Testing’ training programme will take place in 2015 – the exact date is yet to be confirmed.
